Bohner Provides Walk-Off Heroics, Softball Splits Pair of Games on Friday

TOWSON, Md. – Towson softball split a pair of games on Friday afternoon at the TU DeMarini Tiger Clash. Towson got a walk-off win against Providence in game one before falling to UMass Lowell in the nightcap.

Towson (6-11) defeated the Friars thanks to a walk-off double from Cara Bohner to lift Towson to a 3-2 win.

GAME ONE: TOWSON 3, PROVIDENCE 2
Key Stats: How It Happened:
  • Providence would have the first threat of the game loading the bases with no outs in the second. However, Erin Brown would keep the Friars off the scoreboard.
  • Towson would take the lead the very next half inning. Naila Neely would reach on a single and score just pitches later on an Isabella Canesi RBI double to left center to give Towson a 1-0 lead.
  • After Providence tied it with a sacrifice fly in the third, Cori Jones led off the bottom of the inning with a solo home run to left.
  • Both teams went back and forth with Providence tying the game in the fifth. Towson would deliver the walk-off win with Cara Bohner driving in Cori Jones in the seventh to give Towson a 3-2 win.
GAME TWO: UMASS LOWELL 10, TOWSON 0 (F/6)
Key Stats: How It Happened:
  • The River Hawks wasted little time jumping out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Cara Bohner would single in the Towson half of the first, but would e stranded on base.
  • UMass Lowell added another run in the third to make it 3-0. The Tigers got singles from Bohner and Jones, but the inning ended.
  • The River Hawks would add runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth, holding Towson to just four hits in the contest as the Tigers fell 10-0 in six innings.
On Deck:
  • Towson will continue the TU DeMarini Tiger Clash on Saturday, March 2. Towson will take on UMass Lowell at 3 p.m. at Tiger Softball Stadium.
