Vision of the Division/Goh’ing Places

Tiger Fans, Friends and Faithful –

Since arriving two years ago in Towson, I have heard the phrase "it's a great day to be a Tiger" countless times. It has always rung true and it continues to be an incredible privilege to serve as your athletics director. Honestly, I really do believe that this famous saying has never rung truer, and we are launching a new storytelling series this spring called "Goh'ing Places" to tell you why.

We've pulled off some amazing things, but we are also anxious to tell you about what's next, so we hope you'll come back and catch updates over the coming months as we explain in detail some of the incredible improvements that are transforming Towson Tiger Athletics and let you know more about what the next chapter of Towson Athletics will look like.

How it's goh'ing
Since I arrived in 2022, we have welcomed a new president, brought in six new head coaches and rode a wave of support from an amazing group of student-athletes, alumni, parents and fans.

Our Towson Tigers continue to excel in the classroom and on the playing field as more than 300 student-athletes earned a 3.0 grade point average during the fall semester and half of our fall sports won their respective CAA championships, getting the year off to a great start and laying a foundation to build off the department's third place finish in the CAA in the 2023-24 Learfield Cup standings with a total of 95 points – trailing only Northeastern and Delaware.

We have enjoyed significant facility upgrades by way of a new videoboard at Unitas Stadium as well as a new track that was built by TU alumnus, John Beynon, and an amazing new recovery room for our student-athletes in the Towson Center. We have seen a steady membership increase over the past several years with the Tiger Athletic Fund, relaunched the T-Club to better engage our graduates and developed the Black & Gold Society to honor the philanthropic legacy of our proud supporters.

We have also had a lot of fun with branding, launching the "Goh Tigers" brand, which connects the famous local "Baltimorese" accent with our lovable, kid-friendly "cartoon Doc" mascot. We continue to push our brand in the community - connecting with local K-12 schools https://towsontigers.com/news/2024/2/1/general-towson-basketball-on-winning-streak-with-local-elementary-schools.aspx driving campus engagement with initiatives like Admitted Students Day, where we welcome the potential Towson Tigers of tomorrow to enjoy some Tiger basketball and exposing our brand to the masses on regional and national television at a rate we've never enjoyed before.

But let's make one thing clear - there is more progress to be made; we are far from done!

Where we are goh'ing
Energized by the support and leadership of our new president Dr. Mark Ginsberg, Towson Athletics is poised to blaze a trail to new heights. In the coming months, we are excited to paint a picture of what that trail will look like, highlighting scholarship increases, facility renovation plans, community engagement initiatives and our plans to continue investing in the experience of our Tigers.

Our hope is that, like us, this vision will embellish your TU pride and inspire you further to help us tell the story of the amazing things happening here on Auburn Drive.

The future is here, Tigers. It's time to get after it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ73tEuzqHo
