WEST LONG BRACH, N.J. – Towson softball battled back from a deficit twice on Friday to take game one of the series 5-4 against the Hawks.
Ally Hickman drove in the game-tying run in the sixth and scored the game-winning run just pitches later for the Tigers.
Towson (18-26, 7-12 CAA) got a great pitching performance from
Amanda Medina in relief, throwing 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, not allowing a baserunner for Monmouth (14-29, 6-12 CAA). The Tigers mustered eight hits on Friday.

How It Happened:
- Monmouth would get out to an early lead pushing a pair across in the bottom of the first.
- Isabella Canesi would cut the deficit in half with a two-out solo home run to make it 2-1. The Tigers would put up two more runs in the third.
- Taylor Broadbent would reach on a fielder's choice with two outs. Mackenzie Lake would score her on a double to tie the game. Lake would score just pitches later with a Cara Bohner double to center to give Towson a 3-2 lead.
- Monmouth would retake the lead in the fourth with a two-run home run to put the Hawks back in front 4-3.
- Amanda Medina would come on in the fourth and retire the next eight batters to keep Towson in the game.
- The Tigers would fight back. Kristin Toland would lead off with a walk in the sixth. She would advance on a sacrifice bunt to second. Ally Hickman would come up and triple home Toland and tie the game.
- Hickman would then score a couple pitches later with a wild pitch to give Towson a 5-4 lead.
- Maddie Gardner would come on in the seventh and close the door on the Hawks to give Towson a 5-4 win in game one of the series on Friday.
