TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team will kick off the 2024 campaign with four matches at TU Arena starting Friday, Aug. 30. The Tigers face Saint Francis (2 p.m.) and Duquesne (7 p.m.) in the first two matches of the season. Their lone Saturday match vs. Lehigh comes at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the Tigers take on Morgan State at 1 p.m. to close the first weekend of play.
Familiar Faces
Towson returns nine players from its 24-6 run a season ago, including the 2024 CAA Preseason Player of the Year
Victoria Barrett. Barrett has collected All-CAA first team selections as an outside hitter in each of the last two seasons at Towson along with an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honorable mention distinction after the 2022 season. The Stafford, Virginia native ranked fifth in the league with 354 kills a year ago.

Sydney Stewart earned 2024 Preseason All-CAA honorable mentions. Brothers totaled 92 blocks during the 2023 season which ranked ninth in the league. Her 0.99 blocks per set ranked fourth in the conference a year ago. Stewart amassed 388 total digs in 28 matches last season, finishing with the sixth-most in the CAA. Her 4.22 per set average ranked third in the league.
Atop the Table
In the 2024 CAA Preseason Volleyball Poll, Towson finished first among 12 CAA teams with five first-place selections. The Tigers were one of four teams to earn at least one first place vote in the poll, alongside Delaware (three), Charleston (three) and Campbell (one).

Sarah Callender from William & Mary, setter
Izzy Schauer from Belmont and defensive specialist/libero
Kelsie Bothof from Azusa Pacific University. Alongside those nine are six freshmen newcomers, including
Ava Nakai,
Kaitlyn Moran and
Zuzia Bury.
2023 Recap
The Tigers finished the 2023 season as CAA regular season champions for the fourth time since 2019 (no regular season champion named in the 2020-21 COVID shortened season). Towson finished as the CAA tournament runner-up against Delaware, falling to the Blue Hens in four sets at TU Arena.
