Towson Men’s Basketball Erases 18-Point Deficit Behind a Stellar Second Half to Defeat Hofstra

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team welcomed the Hofstra Pride on Thursday night at TU Arena. The Tigers (9-9, 4-1 CAA) won their third straight CAA game behind a phenomenal second half to defeat the Pride (10-8, 2-3 CAA) 65-60.
 
Tyler Tejada led the Tigers with 16 points and four rebounds while Nendah Tarke finished with 14 points on 6-of-10 (60%) shooting off the bench.
 
 
Key Stats vs Hofstra:
  • The Pride shot 46.2% from the field, including 25% in the second half.
  • Towson had 27 points off the bench tonight.
  • The Tigers went 17-of-23 (73.9%) from the free throw line while Hofstra went 5-of-6 (83.3%).
 
How It Happened vs Hofstra:
  • Messiah Jones scored the first five points to give the Tigers an early lead.
  • The teams traded a couple of baskets, before the Pride went on a 34-11 run that spanned over 13 minutes to lead by 18.
  • The Tigers closed out the first half by scoring 11 of the final 13 points which included a Jones steal and layup at the buzzer to trail 41-32 at halftime.
  • Towson opened the second half with a 13-6 run to cut the deficit down to two.
  • The teams continued to go back-and-forth with Hofstra extending its lead to five with 4:39 remaining.
  • A Dylan Williamson triple and a Jones free throw cut the lead to down to one.

  • Caleb Embeya extended Towson's lead to four after making a pair of free throws.
  • The Pride missed a three-pointer and Embeya made another free throw to seal a 65-60 victory for the Tigers over Hofstra.
