Yu, Sadler Named Associate Golf Head Coaches

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University Director of Golf Mike Larkin has named Rachel Yu (Women's Golf) and Brian Sadler (Men's Golf) associate head coaches. Both will begin on February 5.

"This is a really exciting time for Towson golf, to be able to move to this structure of having three coaches between our two programs," Larkin said. "The experience for our student-athletes will improve drastically and immediately with these two great additions."

A San Antonio native, Yu joins Towson after serving as an assistant golf professional at the San Antonio Country Club since August 22. Yu played collegiate golf at the University of Texas Rio Grande (UTRGV). As a redshirt junior in 2021, she finished 29th at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) conference championship. She graduated from UTRGV with a 3.99 grade point average. She is working on her Level 3 certification for PGA professionals.

"Rachel's energy and passion for coaching and collegiate golf, specifically, was evident from our very first conversation," said Larkin. "She will have an immediate impact on our women's team, our future success, and most importantly, the overall development of our student-athletes. She has built a great reputation teaching golf as a PGA Professional, and still loves to compete in professional events, as well. Her work ethic is off the charts, and she is great at seeing things from all angles, which will truly benefit our program immediately."

The women's team open the spring season at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate in West Palm Beach, Florida (February 9-11).

A native of nearby Eldersburg, Sadler has been the lead assistant golf professional at The Suburban Club in Pikesville since last January after spending two and a half years an as assistant at Hayfields County Club. Sadler played two seasons at Shepherd University then transferred to Towson where he earned a sport management degree.

"I'm very excited that Brian will be joining us here at Towson," Larkin added. "Being a Towson graduate, a lifelong Marylander, as well as a PGA professional, having worked at several area clubs, he brings a wealth of local knowledge and networking that will greatly benefit Towson's golf program. He is very hungry to help push our men's team to new heights and the level of success that we have been working toward. Brian has learned under many great golf professionals, still competes at a high level, and will be able to share all of those experiences with our guys, which will be invaluable."

The men's team open will open the spring season with the Ross Collegiate Classic at the Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina (March 10-11).
