TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team will head to downtown Baltimore to face Loyola (Md.) at CFG Bank Arena to open the 2025-26 season.
 
SCOUTING LOYOLA
The Greyhounds are coming off a 12-19 season in 2024-25, finishing eighth in the Patriot League. They opened the tournament against Lehigh, beating the Mountain Hawks 77-73 before their season ended at Bucknell in overtime 76-72. Last season Loyola was led by Milos Ilic who topped the greyhounds in points per game (14.4), rebounds per game (7.5) and assists per game (3.0) who transferred to Cal. Jacob Theodosiou returns for the Greyhounds. He was second to Ilic in points per game (13.0) and assists per game (2.7) while finishing third on the team in rebounds per game (4.0). As a team, Loyola paced their league in steals per game at 7.2 but were middle of the pack in turnover margin. Last season, Loyola went seven deep recording more than 18 minutes per game.
 
RETURNERS
Towson is one of only five schools to have a conference player of the year return to their school for the 2025-26 season in Tyler Tejada. The Tigers are also the only team in the CAA to return All-CAA players in Tejada and Dylan Williamson.
 
TRANSFERS
Towson added some key names in the portal. Jack Doumbia comes from Wright State and was used in over 28% of their possessions. Tyler Schmidt joins Towson after a year at Valparaiso where he shot .465 from the field, .382 from deep and .855 from the charity stripe. Mor Seck provides length in the lanes at 7'0" with a 7'3.5" wingspan after spending last season at Fresno State.

Since the 13-14 season, Towson is 27-2 against DI Baltimore-area teams with the losses against UMBC on December 7, 2024 and Morgan State on December 8, 2018. The average margin of victory against DI Baltimore-area teams in the Pat Skerry era is 11.19 points. This is higher than the average margin of victory against DI teams at 10.74 points.
 
DECADES OF DEDICATION
The coaching staff of the Towson Tigers has been leading the basketball program for a long time. Head Coach Pat Skerry has spent 15 years with the Tigers, his only DI head coaching stop. Associate Head Coach/Director of Roster Management Pat O'Connell is in his second stint with Towson, this one is entering its 10th season after a three year stint before this. Associate Head Coach/Director of Player Development Parfait Bitee is entering his 10th season with the Tigers, the only coaching home he has ever known.
