ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Towson University tennis team wrapped up its fall slate on Sunday at the Navy Duals, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy. The Tigers faced Johns Hopkins and Loyola (Md.), coming away with seven wins against the Greyhounds in straight sets.
"We started off slow," noted head coach Jamie Peterson. "But we were able to come back and win three out of four doubles matches and five out of six singles matches. Gaia Montecchi and Tamzin Pountney both finished the fall season strong, going 5-1 in singles."
Singles – Loyola (Md.)
Gaia Montecchi secured a win at the No. 1 flight to Loyola's Christine Richiez, 6-2, 6-3.
At the No. 2 spot, Tamzin Pountney additionally produced a win for the Tigers against Victoria Epps, 6-1, 6-1.
Ashira Murray picked up another win, 6-4, 6-2, to Kate Agnew.
Sania Suchinsky faced Lily Langhus, coming away with another win after set scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Chloe Courtnage bested Sabrina Grewal, 6-1, 6-1.
Sofia Anderson fell to Katie Moorhead, 6-3, 6-1.
Doubles – Loyola (Md.)
Kiersten Tambe and Chandre Boshoff dropped 6-4 to Christina Richiez and Victoria Epps.
The duo of Tamzin Pountney and Aubrey Carper secured a 6-2 win over Emi Shivkumar and Kate Agnew.
Gaia Montecchi and Jocelynn Ginsberg picked up a win at the No. 3 doubles spot over Lily Langhus and Sabrina Grewal.
Doubles – Johns Hopkins
Kiersten Tambe and Chandre Boshoff fell 6-3 to Kamila Wong and Sophia Kim.
Tamzin Pountney and Aubrey Carper dropped to Claire Loftus and Ava Li, 6-2. Sania Suchinsky and Ashira Murray additionally came up short 6-2 to Sahana Sanjeev and Isabel He.
