TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team will head down to the Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee, Florida. The Tigers will start the tournament against Rhode Island on Monday at 11 a.m. Depending on results, Towson with face either Liberty or Vermont in the second game. The Tigers' third opponent will be one of four teams in the bottom half of the bracket.
 
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island is 4-1 on the season. Every game is hasn't been a true road game has been decided by double digits, with the tightest margin being 13 at home against Stonehill. The average margin of every non-true road game for the Rams this season is 16.5 points. The only neutral site game Rhode Island has played was a 82-65 loss to Tulsa. The Rams go seven deep averaging 19.6 or more minutes per game. Jonah Hinton plays the most minutes at 30.4 per game and is the team's leading scorer at 15.6 points per game. Tyler Cohran is slightly behind at 15.4 points per game but also pulls down six rebounds per game with 22 steals to his credit through five games. While the same starting five has rolled out every game for Rhode Island, sixth man Jahmere Trip is third on the team in minutes played at 123.
 
RETURNERS
Towson is one of only five schools to have a conference player of the year return to their school for the 2025-26 season in Tyler Tejada. The Tigers are also the only team in the CAA to return All-CAA players in Tejada and Dylan Williamson.
 
TRANSFERS
Towson added some key names in the portal. Jack Doumbia comes from Wright State and was used in over 28% of their possessions. Tyler Schmidt joins Towson after a year at Valparaiso where he shot .465 from the field, .382 from deep and .855 from the charity stripe. Mor Seck provides length in the lanes at 7'0" with a 7'3.5" wingspan after spending last season at Fresno State.
