Williams Selected as 2025 Fred Mitchell Award Finalist

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University kicker Caden Williams has been named a finalist for the 2025 Fred Mitchell Award, placing him as one of the top 10 kickers in non-FBS competition this season.

The Fred Mitchell Award is given annually to the top place-kicker in FCS, DII, DII, NAIA and NJCAA for excellence on the football field and in the community, according to the award's mission statement.  10 kickers have been selected as finalists out of the over 750 kickers in non-FBS competition.

Williams is the first-ever Towson player to be a finalist for the award.  It is the second straight season where a Towson player was on the preseason watch list, along with Keegan Vaughan in 2024.

The senior became Towson's placekicker this season, earning the top field goal percentage in Towson history at 88.2% with 15-for-17, being tied for second in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) in field goals made and ninth in the league with 6.75 per game.  He also was a perfect 36-for-36 on extra point attempts.  His performance this year earned him 2025 Honorable Mention All-CAA.

The winner of the 2025 Fred Mitchell Award will be announced at a later date. The award will be formally presented at the National Football Foundation Metro Chicago Chapter Awards Ceremony on February 16, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois.
