TAMPA, Fla. – The Towson University women's lacrosse team wrapped up its Florida trip by taking on the South Florida Bulls on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (3-1) defeated the Bulls (3-2) 13-12 to win Towson's third straight game.
Ocea Leavy led the Tigers with four total points, notching her first collegiate hat trick while
Savannah Safchuck scored a career-high three goals.
Hailey Waldron,
Milana Zizakovic and
Luca DeMaio each had two goals apiece.
Key Stats vs South Florida:
- Jenna Cardeno had 14 saves with five coming in the fourth quarter. She also had a season-high four ground balls.
- Towson finished 7-of-12 on free position shots while USF went 2-of-11.

How It Happened vs. South Florida:
- The Bulls opened the first quarter by scoring three quick goals, but Hailey Waldron scored her fifth goal to trail 3-1.
- Sophia Chepenik scored two goals in less than two minutes to give the Bulls a 5-1 edge.
- Savannah Safchuck scored her third goal of the season which sparked a 5-0 run for the Tigers
- Luca DeMaio cut the deficit to two with her third goal of the year after she fired a shot past Pagano on a free position attempt.
- Safchuck score her second goal of the day after Katie Roszko found Safchuck wide open on the quick counterattack who buried the one-on-one opportunity to trail by one.
- Less than two minutes later Milana Zizakovic scored her first goal of the game on a free position attempt to tie the game at five.
- Ocea Leavy started the second quarter with her fifth goal of the season when she scored on a free position attempt.
- USF responded by scoring three straight goals to close out the second quarter to lead 8-6 at halftime.
- Leavy scored her second free position goal of the game to start the third quarter.
- Less than two minutes later DeMaio tied the score at eight with her second goal of the day.
- Katie Roszko gave the Tigers a 9-8 lead after she fired a shot pass Pagano.
- Safchuck completed her hat trick to give Towson a two-goal lead with 5:36 left in the third quarter.
- The Bulls scored two goals to end the third quarter to even the score at ten apiece.
- The teams traded goals to start the fourth quarter, then Leavy completed her hat trick to give Towson a 12-11 lead. Leavy ran past her defender and fired a shot while falling that beat Pagano.
- USF tied the score with 3:48 left when Bailey Morris scored her seventh goal of the year.
- Zizakovic scored the game-winning goal after she fired a shot past Pagano on a free position attempt.
- Jenna Cardeno sealed the 13-12 win by making two late saves to deny the Bulls.
