How It Happened:
- Towson got on the board in the opening minute as Mikey Weisshaar picked up a ground ball from a saved shot and threw it back into the net from the hip.
- Working off a man-up, Drexel scored to tie the game, then added another in less than a minute off a Towson failed clear and a second goal off a laser from Max Semple.
- Towson's 10-man ride gave Drexel all sorts of difficulty, forcing a pair of failed clears to stay on offense. The next possession, Towson forced a shot clock violation, not allowing a Drexel shot on the chance, nearly having another shot clock violation on the next chance. But, Towson failed to clear, and Drexel second on a second chance effort on Semple's three goal to lead 3-1 with 4:05 left in the first.
- Towards the end of the quarter, Towson held off Drexel's physical play as Weisshaar rolled from behind the cage to score low. Towson trailed 3-2 after one.
- Drexel scored in the opening minute of the second quarter off a close range shot by Will Crawford. Towson got the goal back on the next chance as Chop Gallagher hit a high to low shot inside the left post.
- Each defense held the other for several minutes, despite Towson having a man-up chance on a two-minute Drexel cross-check penalty. Towson broke the deadlock as Weisshaar passed from behind cage to Chuck Matusek for a shot and score inside the right post to tie the game at 4-4 with 3:54 left in the second. The Tigers held off a final 2+ minute possession with a Luke Downs save in the corner to keep the game tied going into halftime.
- Into the third, Drexel again scored off a faceoff win and the ensuing possession. Weisshaar had some more magic as he came from around the cage and scored on a low bouncer close range for the hat trick.
- With 8:56 to go in the third, Matusek scored another on a bouncing ball that hit just under the crossbar into the net to give Towson the lead. In the span of 13 seconds, Michael Katz found Weisshaar for the high-to-low laser in the lower left of cage, then Drexel responded with a goal off the faceoff win. Towson led 7-6 with 3:52 to go in the third, with the Tigers keeping that lead going into the fourth.
- For the third straight quarter, Drexel began the period with a goal on a won faceoff to tie the game. As the sides exchanged possessions, Towson nearly took the lead while man-up after Ronan Fitzpatrick's shot slammed the post at the 10-minute mark.
- With 7:42 left, Matusek buried a high shot on the run to return Towson to the lead. He was not done, hitting another off a pass from Alex Roussel just 39 seconds left. From there, Weisshaar helped seal it, hitting a perfect shot inside the corner, then scoring again off a faceoff win from Kai Lopez to complete a 4-0 run in 2:17 to send the Tigers up 11-7 with 5:25 left.
- Conor Spagnolli scooped two ground balls in the closing minutes to help seal the Towson win. Caden Zadell scored in the final minute, countered by a Towson goal by Fitzpatrick, for the 12-8 Towson win.
