TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team hosted William & Mary on Thursday afternoon to open its final Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) series of the season at John B. Schuerholz Park.
Towson (20-34, 10-15 CAA) got on the board in the first inning by way of
Jordan Peyton's leadoff home run. William & Mary (20-32, 13-12 CAA) tied the game in the next frame and took a one-run lead in the third. The Tigers tied the game at two in the bottom of the seventh inning on
MJ Phillips' sacrifice fly. In the eighth inning,
Jordan Peyton led off with a single and stole second to get into scoring position.
Brian Heckelman's RBI single scored Peyton to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. After a leadoff double and wild pitch put a runner on third with no outs in the top of the ninth,
Nate Nabholz struck out the final three batters to secure the series-opening win.

- Towson reliever Kyle Emmons (3-2) earned the win, tossing 0.2 scoreless frames with one strikeout and one walk. Nate Nabholz (2) earned the save with one hit allowed in the final frame. Nabholz struck out the side to secure the win.
- William & Mary reliever Carter Lovazs (3-4) took the loss, allowing one earned run on three hits in one inning pitched. Lovazs struck out one.
How it Happened
- Jordan Peyton started the scoring for the Tigers in the bottom of the first inning with a leadoff home run.
- Back-to-back doubles for Iriotakis and Jackson in the next frame tied the game at one.
- William & Mary took a one-run lead in the third inning. Parker was hit to reach base and stole second to get into scoring position. Carmichael plated Parker on an RBI single through the left side.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Max D'Alessandro and Ben Nugent recorded back-to-back hits, putting two runners in scoring position for Towson. MJ Phillips hit a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to left field to tie the game once more at two.
- Peyton led off the next inning with a single up the middle and stole second to get into scoring position. Brian Heckelman followed that with a single to left center to bring home Peyton, giving the Tigers a 3-2 lead.
- In the top of the ninth, Iriotakis led off with a double to right field and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Nate Nabholz struck out the final three batters faced to secure a 3-2 win for the Tigers.
Inside the Numbers
- Nabholz recorded the second save of his Towson career with three strikeouts in the final frame of the game. His four wins this year are a single-season career high and his team-leading ERA dropped to 2.49 in 43.1 innings pitched.
- Brett Ahalt extended his hitting streak to 10 games, the longest of any Tiger this season. Heckelman extended his hitting streak to nine games.
- Peyton recorded his 19th multi-hit game this season, the most on the team. He has now reached base safely in 15 straight games, the longest streak of any Tiger this season.
