TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team today announced the non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season, which features matchups versus national powerhouses Houston and Kansas.
Coming off its first outright Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) regular season title, Towson returns its top two players in reigning CAA Player of the Year
Tyler Tejada and
Dylan Williamson, who earned Second Team all-conference honors last season. The Tigers have won at least 20 games in four consecutive seasons and have an impressive 54-18 record in league play since the 2021-22 season, tied for the 12th best conference mark in the country during that period.
Five of the 13 non-conference games were previously announced.
Pat Skerry's squad will open the season versus Charles Street rival Loyola at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore on November 3 and play three games between November 24-26 in the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational near Orlando. Towson will be headed to legendary Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas to face the Kansas Jayhawks on December 16.
In addition to Kansas, the Tigers will face Houston (November 8), James Madison (November 18) and UCF (December 7) on the road. Those four teams combined to finish 96-47 last season. Houston earned a trip to the 2025 NCAA National Championship Game – losing to Florida 65-63. The Cougars are projected to be ranked in the top five in the national rankings to begin the season while Kansas is expected to be in the top 25.
At Terry's Chocolate Invitational, Towson will be in the Adventure bracket and take on Rhode Island in the opening round. The bracket also includes Bradley, Liberty, Princeton, Temple, UC San Diego and Vermont. The eight teams will each play three games in as many days.
"As usual, our non-conference schedule will be challenging," said Skerry, who is entering his 15
th season as head coach and is the winningest coach in school history. "It will prepare us for the rigors of CAA play. In our recruiting and retention efforts, we sell that we will play anyone and this year is no different."
Towson will host five non-conference games at SECU Arena: Wilson College (November 11), Norfolk State (November 14), Cornell (December 3), Notre Dame of Maryland (December 19) and Sacred Heart (December 22). Game times have yet to be announced.
The 18-game CAA schedule begins December 29.
