BOSTON – The Towson University volleyball team's first Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) road series took the team to the Cabot Center in Boston to face the Northeastern Huskies on Friday evening.
 
After winning the opening set, Towson (12-2, 3-0 CAA) squandered a 20-7 lead in the second, allowing Northeastern (5-7, 1-2 CAA) to even the score. The Tigers won sets three and four by scores of 25-22 and 25-23 to extend their winning streak to 12 straight matches.

• Towson held a slight .202 to .182 hitting edge in the match, and a .371 to .273 advantage in the final set.

How it Happened

• Northeastern opened the first set with a 9-2 lead. Towson scored five of the next six points to pull within three at 10-7.
• The Huskies followed that with a three-point run and took that lead to 17-11.
• The Tigers scored seven of the next nine points to pull the deficit to one at 19-18.
• Northeastern followed that with two consecutive points before Towson tied the set with three unanswered points.
• The Huskies got their first set point at 24-23 but a service error tied the match.
• Northeastern sided out for a second set point before three straight from the Tigers delivered a 27-25 set one victory.
• The Tigers got hot to begin the second set, getting out to an 8-5 lead before six unanswered pushed the lead to nine.
• After an NU side out, the Tigers scored another six straight points, pushing the lead to 19-6.
• At 20-7, the Huskies stormed back on a 23-8 run to win the set, 30-28.
• Towson jumped out to another early lead in set three at 4-1.
• The Huskies evened the score at seven, and took a slight edge to 11-10, before three straight Towson points.
• It was a battle of runs to close the set as the Tigers had runs of two, three and four points to the Huskies' two two-point and one four-point runs to win 25-22.
• The fourth set was neck and neck as neither team was able to put together a run longer than three points.
• Down 23-22 late, the Tigers closed the set on a 3-0 run to win 25-23.

 
Inside the Numbers

• Ella Sanders recorded her fifth consecutive match with 15 or more kills, finishing with 16 on .250 hitting. She's finished with at least 15 in eight matches this season.
• Maisie Jesse finished with a season-high 31 assists.
• Sydney Stewart finished with a match-high 29 digs. She currently stands sixth all-time with 1,220 career digs.
