Towson Drops Game to Monmouth

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team fell to 0-3 to start Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play after a 62-48 loss to Monmouth on Saturday evening at SECU Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Tigers scored on their first two possessions of the game to jump out to a 5-0 lead.
  • Monmouth answered with a 12-3 run to take a four-point lead.
  • The game was played tight the rest of the half to enter the locker room at the break with a three-point Monmouth lead at 25-22.
  • Towson scored the first six points of the second half to take the lead before the Hawks scored the next 15 points.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Williamson moved up to 26th all-time on the all-time Towson scoring with 1,067 points passing Roger Dickens and Zane Martin.
 
UP NEXT
The Tigers stay home for a conference matchup against the Hofstra Pride on Thursday afternoon, January 8. Hofstra has played two CAA games so far this season, beating Campbell and Drexel. Cruz Davis is the undeniable star of the Pride. Davis averages 21.2 points per game while shooting .429 from deep. He is known as one of the best mid major players in the country, joining Towson's Tyler Tejada on the Lou Henson watch list. Davis also earned National Player of the Week honors from the US Basketball Writers Association after leading the pride to a win over Pitt.
