ANNAPOLIS, Md.- The Towson University women's tennis team defeated Georgetown 4-2 Friday night at the Tose Family Tennis Center. The Tigers (4-2) played without junior
Chandrè Boshoff, who plays No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles, and senior
Sania Suchinsky, who is 11-4 lifetime on court 6.
Georgetown (2-3) earned the doubles point – winning on courts 2 and 3 before the Tigers stormed back, winning four of the five singles matches that finished.
Gaia Montecchi got Towson on the board with a straight set victory at No. 2. After Georgetown regained the lad with a win at No. 5, Towson went ahead 3-2 after a three-set victory by
Ashira Murray (No. 4) and a straight set win by
Kiersten Tambe at No. 1. Murray is now 6-0 this season.
Sophomore
Chloe Courtnage clinched the match with a three-set thriller at No. 6 – winning the super breaker 10 points to eight.
"This was a tremendous team win," Towson head coach
Jamie Peterson said. "We were sluggish in the doubles but they believed in themselves and handled the pressure situations in singles. Missing two starters and pulling out the win, I am extremely proud."
