Shut Down Defense Allows Comeback Win

TOWSON, Md. – A 9-2 run over the final 3:58 of the game allowed Towson (16-14, 8-9 CAA) to come back and defeat Campbell (13-17, 7-10 CAA) 71-67 on Senior Day.

Jack Doumbia Jr. scored his Towson high with 20 points on the night and Dylan Williamson put up 13 in the second half to help spur the comeback for the Tigers.

KEY STATS
  • Doumbia Jr. added three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal to his Towson high 20 points
  • Williamson, Doumbia Jr. and Tyler Tejada scored 52 of the 71 Towson points.
  • Tejada led the team with eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Campbell opened up the game on an 8-2 run before Towson answered with a 14-2 run to end up ahead six points at the 12 minute mark.
  • The Fighting Camels would claw back even and  eventually took a six point lead into the locker room.
  • The second half started with Campbell extending their lead to 14 points.
  • After a few possessions, Towson went on an 8-0 run to bring the game back within striking distance with 12 minutes left in the second half.
  • Campbell was up nine with six minutes left before Williamson scored a bucket in the fast break, knocked down a three pointer followed by a Jaquan Womack three-point play to cut the Campbell lead to one.
  • Campbell only made two free throws the rest of the way to complete the comeback win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Campbell did not hit a field goal in the final six minutes of the games.
  • Tejada passed Gary Neal on the Towson all-time scoring list to move to 18th all-time.
