TOWSON, Md.- The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) women's tennis team match between Towson University and Hampton was suspended Friday afternoon due to inclement weather.
Play will resume Saturday after Hampton plays Stony Brook in a neutral site match at the Tiger Tennis Complex. Towson hosts Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon.
Towson (6-8, 0-3 CAA) was leading 1-0 when play was stopped after winning two of the three doubles sets. The Tigers top duo of
Kiersten Tambe and
Chandrè Boshoff were victorious at No. 1 – winning 6-1. After Hampton won on court 2, the home team clinched the point with a 6-4 victory by sophomores
Aubrey Carper and
Chloe Courtnage at No. 3.
Tambe (No. 1),
Gaia Montecchi (No. 2) and Bishoff (No. 3) all won opening sets in singles. Hampton (6-4, 0-1 CAA) was up a set on court 4. The first sets were still being competed on courts 5 and 6.
The Tigers are playing without
Ashira Murray and
Tamzin Pountney, who have combined for 16 singles victories this season.
