TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team starts the 2026 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament in Washington D.C. on March 7 at 6 p.m. against Hampton. Tickets can be purchased using the link above.
Towson is the seven seed in this year's tournament after defeating Stony Brook to end the season Hampton is the first opponent on Towson's schedule. If they win, they will face Charleston in the quarterfinals. All potential CAA Tournament games for Towson start at 6 p.m. or later.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
Towson went 1-1 this season against its opening round opponent, Hampton. Each team won on their respective home courts with Towson winning by 32 points at home on Jan 31, 2026 and Hampton winning by one point on their home court on Dec 31, 2025. Hampton is led by Michael Eley who puts up 12.5 points per game.
If Towson wins, it will face the two seed Charleston Cougars. Towson won the only game between the two in Towson. Colby Duggan, who was one of three preseason unanimous first team members in the CAA alongside Towson's
Tyler Tejada and
Dylan Williamson, missed the entire non-conference slate. The Cougars are 14-4 with him in the lineup. Jlynn Counter has been filling up the stat line for the Cougars in conference games averaging 16.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Should Towson advance to the semifinals, it will face one of three teams. The semifinal opponent will be either three-seed Hofstra, six-seed William & Mary and 11-seed Elon. Towson is 0-2 on the season against Hofstra, 0-1 on the season against William & Mary and 2-0 on the season against Elon.
A potential CAA final game would be against either UNCW (0-1 on the season), Monmouth (0-2 on the season), Drexel (1-1 on the season), Stony Brook (2-0 on the season), Campbell (1-0 on the season), NC A&T (0-1 on the season) and Northeastern (1-0 on the season).
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson is riding a three-game winning streak coming into the tournament. Three Tigers are averaging double figures in conference play with Tejada at 15.5 points per game,
Dylan Williamson at 13.8 points per game and
Jack Doumbia Jr. at 10.5 points per game.
Caleb Embeya is leading the team at 6.1 rebounds per game and 13 blocks in CAA games. Both Tejada and Williamson average over 35 minutes per game and six Tigers average over 20 minutes per game in CAA play.
