TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Head Volleyball Coach
Don Metil has named
Aubrey Dondlinger an assistant coach, announced on Wednesday.
"As we looked through our candidate pool for our assistant position, Aubrey came highly recommended by some coaches that I have great respect for. After speaking with Aubrey, her references and our internal hiring committee, she became a top choice to replace Mariana Silva, who is now the Head Coach at Western Illinois," noted Coach Metil.
Dondlinger joins Towson after a recent stint as an assistant coach at Loyola University Maryland. In addition to her coaching duties, Dondlinger functioned as the Greyhounds' director of operations and recruiting coordinator. In that role, she was integral in scouting, practice planning and recruiting strategy. There, she coached All-Patriot League honoree Kacey Sekunda, who paced the team in kills (265) and kills per set (2.94).
Prior to her tenure with Loyola, Dondlinger served as head coach and head of recruiting at Winter Park Volleyball Club in Orlando, Fla., where she oversaw both girls' and boys' programs. She previously spent a decade coaching at 1st Alliance Volleyball Club in Chicago, one of the nation's top-ranked programs, where she developed athletes across multiple age groups and competitive levels.
A former Division I student-athlete at Southeast Missouri State University, Dondlinger was a two-year captain and earned All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) first team honors in 2008 after being named to the league's all-newcomer team in 2007. She began her collegiate career at Parkland College, where she earned All-Region 24 first team and All-Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) honors.
"Aubrey has provided a smooth transition for the team both on and off the court. Her knowledge and instructional feedback provide a great court presence, and so far, her office work is punctual and detail-oriented. As she continues to grow in her role here at Towson, I am confident that our internal processes, on-the-court training, and overall culture will continue to thrive with her on staff," added Coach Metil.
An Illinois native, Dondlinger's expertise is rooted in serve-receive and ball control. Her coaching philosophy centers on competitive training, athlete empowerment and fostering an environment where players are challenged, supported and motivated to grow.
