TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team defeated Charleston in comeback fashion, 5-4, with a four-run sixth inning to complete the come-from-behind victory.
Key Stats:
- Alyssa Myint went four-for-four with three RBI and one run.
- Briyana Wright went three-for-three, one run.
- Amanada Medina came on in relief and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing three hits and walking none.
How it Happened:
- Charleston got their lead runner on. She stole second and advanced on two ground balls to score the opening run of the game.
- The Cougars ended up loading the bases in the first and second innings but left them all stranded in both instances.
- Amande Ashe drove in the first Tiger run of the game with a single up the middle to score Wright.
- Charleston got a runner to second in the third inning after an errant throw allowed the batter to advance to second. She eventually came across on a sacrifice fly.
- The Cougars added two more in the fourth to bring their lead to three, 4-1.
- After a scoreless fifth inning, Towson entered the sixth with six outs to work with and a three-run deficit.
- Wright started the comeback with a single down the left field line. Ashe singled to left center, the runner only advanced one base. Taylor Broadbent drew a walk to pass the bat.
- Myint stepped up to the plate and ripped a ball over the left fielder's head to clear the bases and celebrate at second base.
- Benton followed up with a double of her own to allow Myint the easy path home for the game winning run.
