Baseball Mashes Six Homers to Secure Win in Final Game of 2026 Season

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team faced Northeastern in the final game of a three-game Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) series on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Robinson Field at John B. Schuerholz Park.
 
Towson (22-32, 9-21 CAA) jumped out to a 10-0 lead through two innings. Northeastern (34-19, 22-8) chipped away, forcing the Tigers to add to their lead. Up 14-7 after seven, the Tigers held the Huskies to three runs over their final two offensive frames to win 14-10 in the final game of the regular season.
Key Stats:­­
  • Towson starter Matt Lynch (1-3) earned the win, allowing three earned runs on six hits in 3.0 innings pitched. Lynch struck out four batters and walked one.
  • Northeastern starter Andrew Basel (1-1) took the loss after allowing six earned runs on six hits in 0.2 innings pitched. Basel struck out one batter faced.
 
How it Happened:
  • After Brady Nathison's leadoff single in the first, Brian Heckelman homered to center, putting the Tigers up early. Frank Adamski Jr. scored on a wild pitch, adding to the lead. That preceded Jack Hughes' two-run homer to right, making it a five-run lead. Ethan Brand followed with a solo home run to left, putting the Tigers ahead 6-0.
  • With the bases loaded in the bottom of the second, Max D'Alessandro hit a grand slam to left, putting Towson ahead 10-0.
  • The Huskies added three runs on five hits in the next frame. Ryan Gerety hit a two-run double down the right field line and Matt Brinker scored Gerety on a double to left center field.
  • D'Alessandro hit his second home run of the day, a two-run shot, in the fourth inning to extend the Tigers' lead to 12-3.
  • Gerety hit a two-run home run for the Huskies in the top of the fifth, cutting the Towson lead to seven runs.
  • Northeastern added two runs on three hits in the top of the sixth to get within five at 12-7.
  • Hughes' sacrifice fly in the sixth put the Tigers back ahead by six.
  • Nathison hit a solo home run to left field in the seventh inning to make it 14-7.
  • Walsh homered again to lead off the eighth inning, getting the Huskies within six.
  • Walsh hit his third and final homer of the day in the ninth to get within four at 14-10. Jacob Whiteman retired the final batter to earn a 14-10 win in the series and season finale.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • D'Alessandro finished the day batting 3-for-5 with two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored. It marks just the second multi-homer game from a Tiger this season.
  • With his home run today, Heckelman cracked Towson's career top ten as he has 30 home runs in his Black & Gold career.
