DOVER, Del. – The Towson University football team will wrap up non-league play and the month of September with a visit to Delaware State on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast online on the MEAC Network with Dennis Jones on the call live from Alumni Stadium. In addition, Spiro Morekas and Gordy Combs will have the radio call on Towsontigers.com.
 
Towson, currently 0-1 in Coastal Athletic Association play, is playing a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent for the second straight week after falling to Morgan State 41-26 at Unitas to be 0-4.  Delaware State, which has yet to begin MEAC play, is coming off a 59-17 defeat at South Florida to stand at 2-2.
 
This is the first matchup between these two teams since 2014.  Towson won that game 21-7 in Dover on Sept. 13 for its fourth straight victory over the Hornets to lead the all-time series 11-6.  Delaware State's last win in the series came on Oct. 10, 1992, a 27-13 win in Dover.
 
After this contest, Towson remaining seven regular season games are against CAA opponents, beginning with at Monmouth on Oct. 3.
 
FOURTH YEAR IN PETE SHINNICK ERA
Towson enters its fourth season under head coach Pete Shinnick in 2025.  Under coach Shinnick, Towson has earned three victories over then-top-15 teams and has finished at least .500 in CAA play in each of his first three years.
 
Towson has had five head coaches in program history: Carl Runk (1969-71), Phil Albert (1972-91), Gordy Combs (1992-2008), Rob Ambrose (2009-22) and Pete Shinnick (2023-pres.).
 
THREE TIGERS RECOGNIZED IN CAA PRESEASON AWARDS
Three players were recognized in the CAA Preseason Honors, led by KJ Brooks being CAA Preseason All-Conference while each Andrew Indorf and Daniel Anderla being CAA Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention.  All three are honored with preseason league awards for the first time.
 
Brooks, a former FCS Freshman All-American in 2023, has been Towson's primary player at right tackle for the past three seasons.  In 2025, the senior from Olney, Maryland started all 12 games for the Tigers, having starts at right tackle, left guard and left tackle.
 
Indorf, the 2025 CAA Co-Rookie of the Year, was Towson's starting quarterback in all 12 games last year, throwing 59.6% for 2,344 yards, 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions, helping Towson have the fewest interceptions among CAA teams.
 
Anderla worked as Towson's long snapper in all 12 games as a redshirt freshman in 2025.  Towson's kicker and punter each were all-conference honorees last season, including Caden Williams setting a Towson football single season record for best field goal percentage at 88.2%.
 
THE 2025 STARTING QUARTERBACK RETURNS
Andrew Indorf, the 2025 CAA Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year and Jerry Rice Award finalist, has returned to Towson as the presumptive starting quarterback for 2026.  Indorf is the first Towson quarterback to be the primary starter in back-to-back years since Tom Flacco was a two-year starter in 2018-19.
 
Indorf was the first Towson player to be a CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year since Shane Simpson in 2016 and the first to be a Jerry Rice Award finalist since Mason Woods in 2022.
 
AIR RAID OFFENSE
Towson's passing game has produced some big passing plays in the early going of the season.  Towson is averaging 255.3 passing yards a game, which would be ninth-most in a season all-time in Towson history.
 
Andrew Indorf has four completions of at least 47 yards and four passing touchdowns of at least 30 yards.  Indorf had four touchdown passes of at least 30 yards all of 2025.

ENTERLINE ENTERS
Aaron Enterline has been a dominant force in his first year with Towson after transferring from Penn State, currently having 23 catches for 306 yards and five touchdowns, scoring a touchdown in each of his first four games.
 
He wears #0, the same number as Penn State transfer John Dunmore last year.  Dunmore led Towson in receptions and receiving yards last season.
 
REINFORCEMENTS INCOMING
Towson has brought in 53 new players for 2026, including 27 true freshmen and 26 transfers.  They add to the 52 returners for a 105-man roster.  Of Towson's 105 players, 69 have played just at Towson and 36 are transfers.

TOWSON PICKED SIXTH IN CAA PRESEASON POLL
The Tigers were predicted to finish sixth in the league in the preseason coaches poll.  Towson received 93 points in the poll.  Defending CAA co-champion Rhode Island is predicted to finish first followed by Monmouth and Elon.

TIGERS IN THE PROS
Several Tigers have been competing in the professional ranks after their time with the Black & Gold.
 
Carter Runyon was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025, being elevated to the active roster on Sept. 28 and making his pro debut vs. the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 5.  He played 13 games for the Raiders last season.
 
In addition, three former Tigers currently serve as coordinators in the NFL.  Grant Udinski '19 returns as the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator while Brian Fleury '02 is now the new offensive coordinator of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and Brian Duker '11 is the defensive coordinator of the New York Jets.
 
In the CFL, Tibo Debaillie '21 is playing his sixth year as a professional, including season five with the BC Lions.  The Belgium native has played 75 career games in the CFL.

REPLACING TOWSON LOCAL AT PUNTER
Towson local product Owen Scheihing, a Loyola Blakefield graduate, was averaging 44.2 yards per punt until getting hurt during the game at South Carolina.
 
Freshman Jacob Davis, who is Towson's backup quarterback, is now serving as Towson's punter and holder.  His first game included a 53-yard punt vs. Morgan State.
 
RELYING ON THE FRESHMEN
Towson has been playing its freshmen and redshirt freshmen in some key roles early in the year.
 
Two freshmen, Jerald James and Hayden Loveless, have each started games on the defensive line.  Redshirt freshman Seth Chestnut has a CAA Rookie of the Week honor, being fourth on the team with 23 tackles.
           
On special teams, redshirt freshman Zaydaan Faridi is 71.4% on field goals while true freshman Jacob Davis is currently serving as punter and holder.

Four Towson football home games will be appearing on Monumental Sports Network this season.  The home of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards, Monumental Sports Network is based out of Bethesda and is aired across the DMV, spanning from Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina.

SCOUTING DELAWARE STATE: 
Delaware State finished second in the MEAC last season during the first year of head coach and former NFL standout wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
 
Senior quarterback Ui Ale is Delaware State's leader in passing, throwing 61.2% for 779 yards, three touchdowns and three picks, and rushing, having 22 rushes for 168 yards and two scores.  His primary receiver is redshirt senior Jaylin Terzado, who has 13 catches for 228 yards and two scores.  The team's leading tackler is redshirt sophomore safety Kemari Nix with 23, 4.5 for loss.

--Nov. 1, 1980 (Towson, Md. - Towson 30-0):
Sean Landeta kicked three field goals, including a current school record and then state of Maryland record 57-yarder, in a 30-0 shutout of Delaware State in the first-ever meeting between the teams.  Jeff Boller, also a future Towson Athletics Hall of Famer, had nine tackles that game en route to a 115-tackle season.
 
--Oct. 26, 1985 (Towson, Md. - Towson 51-26):
In a matchup of DII #4 Towson State and DI-AA #9 Delaware State, the Tigers pulled off a huge upset 51-26.  The Towson defense forced seven turnovers, including five interceptions, and blocked a field goal to counter Delaware State's 384 yards rushing.  Future Towson Athletics Hall of Famer Kurt Beathard passed 23-33 for 267 yards and four touchdowns.
 
--Sept. 15, 2013 (Towson, Md. - Towson 49-7):
Terrance West tied a school record with five rushing touchdowns in Towson's 49-7 victory vs. Delaware State, tying the record with Tony Vinson vs. Morgan State in 1993, and finishing with 82 yards.  The Towson defense forced four turnovers plus had a Derrick Joseph 95-yard kickoff return touchdown.
 
NELSON - CAMPBELL TROPHY SEMIFINALIST
Towson offensive lineman Joden Nelson has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy®, recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.  A Towson graduate in sport management, Nelson has played 34 games for the Tigers in his career and is a multiple-time member of the CAA Football Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
 
CHALLENGING FBS COMPETITION
The Tigers will be playing two games against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams this year, playing at Navy from the American Athletic Conference on Sept. 5 and at South Carolina from the Southeastern Conference on Sept. 12.
 
Having played at least one FBS opponent every fall season played (except COVID 2020) since 2008, this is just the second year where Towson is playing two FBS teams.  Towson took on Kent State and LSU in 2012.
