TOWSON, Md. – The Tigers embark on their first CAA road trip of the season to face the preseason-favorite Charleston Cougars in two matches on Friday and Saturday at TD Arena. The matches are slated for 6 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

Scouting the Cougars
Charleston enters the weekend at 10-2 overall and 2-0 in league play, on a ten-match winning streak dating back to Aug. 30 vs. Memphis. The Cougars picked up a three-set win over Notre Dame in their final non-conference match before two straight-set wins over Elon to start the league slate.
 
Preseason All-CAA middle blocker Caroline Noonan leads the team with 3.03 kills per set on a .476 hitting percentage. Another preseason All-CAA selection, Jumana Martin, leads the team with 4.53 digs per set. Opposite hitter Gabby Tuianna, a preseason honorable mention, is third on the team with 2.64 kills per set.
 
Last Time Out
The Tigers opened Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play against the Northeastern Huskies last weekend at SECU Arena.
 
In Friday's league opener, the Tigers outpaced the Huskies 44-32 in kills, with a .248 hitting percentage in the match, to win in straight sets.
 
After claiming the opening set on Saturday, the Black & Gold surrendered the second to the Huskies. The Tigers posted 12 and 16 kills, respectively, in the third and fourth sets to take the series sweep.
 
CAA Weekly Awards
Middle blocker Clara Vorel was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday after posting a team-best 10 blocks in the Tigers' two wins over Northeastern, adding 12 kills on a .367 hitting percentage, one assists and two digs.
 
The Rincon, Ga. native posted eight kills on a .571 hitting mark in Friday's conference opener, supplementing five blocks. She closed the weekend with another five stops at the net and added four kills on Saturday.
 
Vorel is the Tigers' first weekly award winner of the season and their first rookie of the week recipient since Malinah Purcell-Telefoni earned a nod on Oct. 6, 2025.
 
League Leaders
The Tigers are first among Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) statistical leaders on a per set basis in points (17.79), kills (13.87), assists (12.97), opponent hitting percentage (.153) and opponent kills (10.68).
 
They stand second in hitting percentage (.257) and digs per set (14.84).
 
Record-Setting Crowd
On Sept. 11 at SECU Arena, Towson volleyball announced a record-setting crowd of 1,161 fans at its match against Arkansas, topping the previous high of 1,012 against Rutgers on Sept. 3, 2022.
 
Metil Detector
Towson Head Coach Don Metil is the all-time winningest coach in program history with a 298-98 (.753) record dating back to 2013. Now in his 25th season as an NCAA head coach, Metil is 528-228 (.698). Metil was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coach of the Year in 2019 after winning Towson's first-ever NCAA Tournament game vs. American and finishing the season at 29-3. He boasts four CAA Coach of the Year awards during his tenure at TU: 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2022.

2025 Recap
After dropping the first two matches of the 2025 season, Towson followed with 18 consecutive match wins and finished the regular season at 21-6. The Tigers finished the league slate at 12-4, earning the No. 3 seed in the CAA Championship. They faced No. 6 Stony Brook in their opening match of the tournament, falling three sets to one at SECU Arena.
