Kaitlin attended nearby Loch Raven High School. However, since the Baltimore County school system did not sponsor interscholastic swimming, she looked elsewhere. She found her way to Loyola Blakefield Aquatics recognized as a USA Bronze Medal Club and one of the country's top 150 club programs for developing and producing Junior National qualifiers. Her performances did not go unnoticed.
"When it came time to consider college I looked for a mid-major program," Kaitlin says. "I was a pretty good swimmer but not super elite so I wanted a program where I could continue to grow as a swimmer. I was recruited by Delaware, James Madison, UNC Wilmington and other CAA schools but I picked Towson because, yes it was close to home, but I would say on my recruiting trip it was the team I jelled the most with."
Kaitlin grew quickly into a dominating freestyler for the Tigers. She finished her freshman year as the CAA Rookie of the Year after leading all freshmen in scoring at the CAA Championship. She also established program records for a freshman in the 100, 200 and 500 free.
Following her sophomore season, she put on a burst of speed in her junior and senior years. She was named CAA Swimmer of the Year in 2013 and 2014. She was selected Most Outstanding Swimmer of the CAA Championship Meet both years. In 2014 she earned honorable mention All-American honors for her performance at the NCAA Championship.
She still ranks among Towson's top 10 in all freestyle events including a 7
th, a 5
th a 3
rd and three second places. In 2014 Kaitlin joined Kendall Towe, Charlotte Holz and Melanie Rowland to post a time of 7:11.56 in the 800 free relay at the CAA Championships. That time remains a program and CAA Meet record.
That same year Kaitlin was named Towson's Female Athlete of the Year and Senior Female Career Achievement Award recipient. In addition, she was the CAA's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. An exercise science major she was a CSCAA Scholar first team All-American in 2013 and a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Award winner. Upon graduation she was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.
Kaitlin is currently employed by the Department of the Navy. She and her husband, Jake, met in their freshman year at Towson when Jake competed for the Tiger men's swimming team.
