Towson career: Tied for ninth in tackles (274)

2019: Team captain and second straight year as an All-CAA Second Team linebacker... Also a member of the CAA Preseason All-Conference Team... Started all 12 games at linebacker, leading the Tigers in tackles with 87 and tackles for loss with 12.5, adding two sacks and two interceptions... Notched at least six tackles in 10 out of 12 games played... 10 tackles each in the opening two wins at The Citadel (8/31) and vs. N.C. Central (9/7), following up with an interception and seven tackles against each Maine (9/14) and Villanova (9/21), earning a pick six in the latter... Season-high 11 tackles vs. UAlbany (10/12)... Tallied three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks in home victory vs. Delaware (11/2)... Nine tackles apiece in road wins over Stony Brook (11/9) and William & Mary (11/16).

2018: Earned All-CAA Second Team selection at linebacker...STATS Honorable Mention Defensive Player of the Week and CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 12...Towson's leader in tackles with 99, being sixth in the CAA with 8.2 tackles per game...Added 10.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and four passes broken up...Three games in a row with double digit tackles, including 13 in win over William & Mary on Oct. 13, adding two broken up passes...Earned 13 tackles and a sack in important road victory at Elon on Nov. 10. 

2017: Saw action in all 11 games during his redshirt sophomore campaign at linebacker … finished third on the team with 64 total tackles … racked an even 32 solo stops and 32 assisted tackles … had two games with double-digit stops with 10 at Stony Brook (Sept. 23) and another dozen against Delaware (Oct. 28) … had 7.5 tackles for loss, combining for 16 yards … had a 26-yard interception return against Rhode Island (Nov. 18) … had a pass breakup at William & Mary Nov. 11).

2016: Appeared in all 11 games…earned the start at inside linebacker in the final three games of the season…finished season with 24 tackles and five tackles-for-loss…posted four tackles, including two for loss, at Richmond…made six stops in first start against Elon…ended season with seven tackles, six solo, and two tackles-for-loss against Rhode Island…enrolled in January and wen through spring practice.

ARMY PREP: Spent the fall of 2015 at U.S. Military Prep Academy.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Mark Stroud at Calvary Day School… earned first-team all-state honors after finishing senior season with 102 tackles…forced four fumbles and recovered two fumbles…also rushed for 1,439 yards and 23 touchdowns…selected as the region player of the year…recorded 121 tackles and two sacks as a junior…gained 1,442 yards on the ground and scored 10 touchdowns in helping the Cavaliers to a 12-1 record his junior season…finished high school career with 4,050 all-purpose yards and 46 touchdowns…earned first-team all-region honors in basketball.

PERSONAL: Son of Robert Heyward and Takiyah Martin…has nine brothers and sisters…majoring in sports management.
