Biography
2021: Qualified for all six tournaments … ranked second on the team in scoring average (75.7) … Eleven of his 15 rounds were 76 or better, including a season-low 71 at the Abarta Collegiate Invitational on April 19 … named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Golfer of the Week after finishing sixth in the Carpetbagger Classic (March 20-21), which included an even par in the second round … was also Towson’s top performer at the Abarta Invitational (April 18-19) when he finished tied for 10th of 76 … shot one-over par 73 during the third round of the Southern Invitational (March 2) … during one seven-hole stretch, he made four birdies and three pars … qualified for 28 of the 32 events during his Towson career … produced eight rounds of playing to par or better, including a pair of 70's.
Spring 2020: Competed in the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate tournament and finished with a three round score of 223 (+7) … Fueled by three birdies on the front nine, he finished the second round one under par after shooting a 71 … Had five birdies and nine pars during a second round effort to remember … In finishing with a two-over 74 final round, he birdied the 13th and 14th holes.
Fall 2019: Competed in five events and finished with a 77.0 average over 13 rounds … Only round of par was a fall low 71 in the final round of the Elon Phoenix Invitational … Finished among the top 50 in three of the five fall tournaments … Best finish was tying for 28th overall at the Towson Fall Invitational.
2018-19: Competed in seven events and finished with a 76.1 average over eighteen rounds … During the Patriot Intercollegiate he helped Towson finish second by tying for 27th overall (+4) … Shot a season best 70 (-1) in the second round of the Patriot Intercollegiate and in the second round of the Towson Invitational… Was Towson’s top finisher at the Loyola Intercollegiate tying for 48th overall (+6)… Had four birdies in shooting a 70 (-2) during the second round of the Towson Invitational tying for fourth overall at the event (+2) … Shot a 242 at the CAA Championship.
2017-18: Competed in nine events and finished with a 77.7 average over 25 rounds … Finished tied for 32nd at the Navy Spring Invitational (159 +17) … Enjoyed his best tournament at the ODU/OBX Invitational in which he shot a career 54-hole low 223 (+10) … He shot a career low 70 (-1) in the final round of the ODU/OBX Tournament … He also shot a 72 in the second round of the same tournament … Finished 40th at the CAA Championships.
Prior to Towson: Was part of a team that compiled a 44-0 record over four years … Was a part of five consecutive state, district, and county championships … He tied the county record for lowest nine holes (four under par) … won county championship in his senior year … tied for fourth junior year … second in the state and district championships senior year.
Personal: Lists his cousin Stephen as the person he admires most … favorite teams include Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens and Washington Wizards … likes to eat ratatouille … has one brother Evan … son of John and Dawn Courtney … majoring in business finance … most memorable experience was seeing the Claret Jug in person.
