2008-09 SEASON: the top 3-point shooter in the CAA for most of the season ... got off to a great start to when he matched his career high with 24 points in the season opening win over Navy ... 6 of his 9 field goals were treys ... led the CAA for most of the season in treys made (80) ... 65% (80 of 124) of his made field goals were three-pointers ... he's just the 6th player in program history to make over 100 three-point shots in his career ... he's 3rd on the list with 149 ... needs 9 more to become the program's all-time leader ... keyed the win at UMBC when he came off the bench to sink 5 of 10 treys as Towson made a program record 14 for the game ... Towson's 2nd leading scorer with a 10.9 average ... had a career performance at Northeastern with a game high 25 points ... passed the 500 point plateau for his career with his sixth 20-point game (vs. VCU) ... another 339 points will get him 1,000 for his college career ... matched his career high in the double overtime loss to UNCW with 25 points ... scored in double figures in 11 of his last 18 games ... improved his free throw shooting ... shot .567 from the line in 2007-08, but hit .750 last year ... went 27 of 33 (.818) from the line in the last 18 games ... did not start against Drexel at home, ending a string of 12 straight starts ... went scoreless at ODU, the 2nd time in his Towson career he's been blanked.

2007-08 SEASON: A transfer from Georgetown, Josh was not eligible until December 19th due to the NCAA transfer rule ... finished 2007-08 with a team best 13.2 scoring average ... immediately established himself as TU's top outside threat ... went on to bury a team high 67 three-pointers while attempting a team high 156 from long range despite playing in only 22 games ... 67 of his made 103 field goals were treys as he scored in double figures in 16 of his 22 games ... fell short of the required 75% participation rate to qualify for rankings but his .429, 3 point field goal percentage would have led the CAA ... he had scored a total of 10 points in an entire frustrating 2005-06 year at Georgetown before transferring ... in his first action, and his first college game action in nearly two years, against Lafayette, he played 9 minutes and nailed his first trey ... got his first start at Auburn, responding with 11 points in 25 minutes ... scored 10 of his 13 points during a 12-0 run that gave the Tigers their biggest lead of the night, 53-37, in the 77-71 victory over Northeastern ... he followed the Northeastern performance with a 20-point effort off the bench at George Mason that included a 6-12 showing from long range ... Josh's favorite opponent proved to be the Patriots from the Mason Nation ... in the rematch he scored a game high 23 points to average 21.5 in the two games against GMU ... started every contest thereafter except the BracketBuster game against High Point due to an illness that kept him out of practice the day before ... all of his field goal attempts in the loss at UNCW were three-point tries (5-11) ... was the only Tiger in double figures with 13 points at VCU where the Rams won 65-42 ... at Hofstra he hit 5 treys in a row and 7 (one shy of tying Gary Neal's school record) in the game for a team high 21 points ... exploded for a career high 24 points in the regular season finale against Delaware.

2005-06 SEASON AT GEORGETOWN: Saw limited duty in the Georgetown lineup ... appeared in 6 games ... averaged 1.7 points and 0.5 rebounds in 3.3 minutes per game ... scored seven points in his first collegiate action, playing six minutes against Fairfield.

AT CAESAR RODNEY H.S.: A prolific scorer in high school ... he's the all-time leading scorer in school history ... averaged 27.5 points and 6 assists in his senior year for the Riders ... twice scored a record 47 points in a single game ... holds the state of Delaware Tournament prep record for three-pointers ... an All-Henlopen Conference selection ... earned the Alpha Phi Alpha Dr. Martin Luther King Achievemnt Award for Academics and Leadership ... picked up CRHS Scholar Athlete Awards throughout high school ... ranked by Rivals.com among its top 150 high school prospects in 2005 and among its top 40 shooting guards.

BACKGROUND/PERSONAL: Surname is Mikale Josh Thornton ... the people he admires most are his parents ... the youngest of three boys in the family ... his brother Marcus once scored 10 treys in a single game at McQuaid Jesuit H.S. where he still holds the school and Rochester city record ... Marcus played basketball at Nebraska where another brother, Jason, who won a gold medal in the Empire State Games, ran on the Cornhuskers' 2000 Championship squad ... his dad is a retired Air Force Chaplain (Major) and attended Southwestern Christian before receiving two Master's degrees at Oklahoma ... Josh's mom participated in the National Explores Olympic Games in 1972 and captained the basketball, track and softball teams in high school ... she attended the State University College at Brockport where she was a cheerleader ... she later earned a Ph.D. in Education Administration ... Josh lived in Germany for six years and in Japan for three years during his dad's Air Force career ... son of Michael and Lovely McClary Thornton.
