2008-09 SEASON: Calvin contributed both as a sometimes starter and as a vaulable reserve off the bench ... just missed a double-double with 10 points and 9 boards to go along with what proved to be a team individual season high 6 blocks in the opening win over Navy ... got his first start in the win over Hampton, going 3-3 from the field and 4-4 from the foul line to match his career high of 10 points ... reset his career high with 13 points in the win over NJIT ... did not dress for 7 games while attending to academic matters right after the holidays ... saw his first action since the New Year's Eve game at N.C. State when he played 12 minutes against UNCW, scoring 8 points ... matched his career high with 13 points in the home finale against Delaware, scoring 11 points in the first half ... doesn't shoot the three-pointer very often but he was very accurate from beyond the arc when he did attempt a long ranger ... he was 4 of 8 in treys ... developed into a very good free throw shooter ... he hit a team high .771 from the charity stripe ... he was a career high 6-6 from the line in the season finale at George Mason ... finished 3rd on the team with 24 blocks to rank 9th in the CAA in blocked shots ... the Tigers were 5-1 when he was in the starting lineup.
AT ALLEGANY COLLEGE OF MARYLAND: Calvin is a transfer from Allegany College of Maryland where he was a two-year starter for the Trojans ... named first team All-Maryland JUCO and Region XX ... helped the Trojans to a 24-9 record in his freshman year when he averaged 14.9 points and 9.6 rebounds as Allegany won its third straight Region XX Division I championship ... averaged 15.3 points and 9.5 rebounds for the Trojans in 2007-08 ... named third team pre-season NJCAA All-American before his sophomore year.
AT MATOACA H.S.: A three-year starter for the Warriors ... was named Virginia Class AAA Central District Player of the Year as a junior and senior ... he was first team All-Region and second team All-Metro in the Richmond area in his senior year when he averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks ... finished his high school career with 1,019 points ... scored a career high 37 points his senior year in a win over Hopewell ... participated on Matoaca's track team too ... high jumped 6-2, ran a personal record 50.9 in the 400 ... played for the Petersburg Elite for three years of AAU ball ... a member of Upper Bound while at Matoaca.
