Biography

One of Towson's all-time leading scorers in women’s lacrosse, Shannon Witzel returned to her alma mater as a Development Assistant.

A 2007 graduate of Towson, Shannon finished her Tiger career with 208 goals that tied the school record. With 255 points, she finished her career ranked third in school history.

A two-time All-Region selection, Shannon was named third team All-America by the IWLCA as a junior after scoring 61 goals with 13 assists. She ranked fourth in the nation by averaging 3.59 goals per game. She recorded 12 “hat tricks” during her junior season, including a career-high seven goals against Delaware.

As a sophomore, Shannon helped the Tigers to their first CAA title and led the nation by averaging 3.74 goals per game. She set the single season school record by scoring 71 goals in 2005 and was named as the Most Outstanding Player of the CAA Tournament after netting seven goals against Hofstra.

Named as the Towson University Female Rookie of the Year in 2004, the Pottstown, Pa. native set the school freshman scoring record with 44 goals and 53 points. 

Shannon returned to Towson after serving as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at La Salle University for one season.
