Biography

Margie Tversky joined the Tiger Senior Administrative Staff in 2001 and currently holds the position of Associate Athletics Director for Student Services.

Besides heading up Towson’s Life Skills Program, Tversky supervises seven intercollegiate sports, Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, Cheerleading and advises the SAAC, known as PAWS-Proud Athletes Who Serve.  In addition, Tversky has served on numerous university, conference, and NCAA committees throughout her career including the NCAA Academic, Eligibility and Compliance Cabinet and NCAA Fencing Committee.

She received her BS degree in Health and Physical Education from Douglass College, Rutgers University and earned a masters degree in Physical Education – Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia University’s Teachers College.

After teaching in the Los Angeles County Schools for three years, Tversky taught in the Physical Education major’s program, served as head field hockey coach and began her career in athletic administration at the University of Iowa. Working with Christine Grant as Assistant Athletics Director, she helped to create the foundation for the University of Iowa’s Women’s Athletics program.

In 1978, Tversky moved to New York, where she assumed the role of Director of Athletics at Barnard College. When Columbia University announced that it would begin admitting women to its undergraduate liberal arts program, Tversky initiated efforts to merge the existing Barnard women’s program with Columbia’s future athletics program for women. The result was the historical Columbia University-Barnard College Athletic Consortium, one of only a few such consortiums in the country.  Tversky continued to administer the women’s athletics program for Columbia University until 1990, when she moved to Baltimore, Maryland with her family.

Tversky resumed her career in athletic administration in1998 at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, where she served as Director of Athletics.
