The 1991 men's lacrosse team that reached the NCAA Tournament championship game was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2014.
The team reached the NCAA championship game in the program's second trip to the post-season after moving to Division I. The Tigers ended the year with a 12-4 record, and their three regular-season losses were by a combined six goals.
Towson finished the regular season ranked 10th in the USILA poll. The Tigers won the program's first Division I NCAA Tournament game with a three-overtime 14-13 victory over No. 3 Virginia. Towson then went on to defeat No. 7 Maryland, 15-11, in the semifinals to avenge an earlier loss that season before falling to No. 1 North Carolina, 18-13, in the national championship.
Attackmen Glenn Smith (third team) and John Blatchley (honorable mention); midfielders Rob Shek (first team, Steve Kisslinger (second team) and Tony Millon (honorable mention); and defenseman Carl Beernink (honorable mention) all earned USILA All-America honors. Shek received USILA Division I Midfielder of the Year honors as well. Only the national champion Tar Heels had more All-Americans (seven) that season.
