Towson Hall of Fame Nomination Criteria

CRITERIA
Athletes:
  1. Shall have attended Towson University for a minimum of two (2) years and earned a bachelor’s degree, or, left the University in good academic standing.
  1. Nomination shall not be considered for at least ten (10) years after graduation or completion of the student-athlete’s eligibility.
  2. Consideration shall be based primarily on the athletic achievements as a student-athlete solely while attending the University where the accomplishments brought distinction and notoriety to the student-athlete and the University. Ancillary factors shall include athletic accomplishment after leaving the University and career development.
  3. Special consideration shall be given to eligible candidates who may have been overlooked after completing their intercollegiate careers at least thirty (30) years prior to the current selection committee gathering.
Coaches:
  1. Shall not be eligible for at least five (5) years after separation from the University.
  2. Consideration shall be based on the record and achievements solely while in the employ of the University with no stronger claim to another institution.
  3. Shall have received conference, regional or national recognition and whose tenure led to the program’s advancement and growth.
  4. Active coaches may not be considered.
Administrator/Staff:
  1. Shall not be eligible for at least five (5) years after separation from the University.
  2. Must have served at the University for at least fifteen (15) years
  3. Conference, regional and national recognition that brought distinction and honor to the University shall serve as basic factors for consideration.
  4. No active administrator may be considered unless criterion 1 is waived by a unanimous vote of the selection committee.
General Requirements:
  1. Election shall be based on athletic merit or contribution to Tiger Athletics only.
  2. Nominees must be of good standing and character.
  3. Attendance at the Annual Induction Banquet is required by all living recipients for induction.
  4. Other Halls of Fame memberships (national, state) shall not constitute a stronger claim than a nominee’s Towson University achievements.
  5. A former student-athlete, coach or administrator may, by a majority vote of the committee (50 per cent constitutes a majority) be considered posthumously.
