The 1990-92 Women's Lacrosse Teams

The 1990, 1991 and 1992 women’s lacrosse teams compiled a 30-16 record that included three straight East Coast Conference Championships. During that run a number of Tigers earned post-season recognition including two ECC Players of the Year, an ECC Coach of the Year and numerous spots on the All-ECC team.

After starting the 1990 season 2-3, the Tigers reeled off six straight wins. During the streak Towson held opponents to nine goals or less, including a season low one goal in the win over Georgetown. Winning its first ever ECC playoff game 6-5 over Lafayette, the Tigers followed that with a 4-3 victory over Delaware for the championship. Jen DeVos, and Gina Profili earned All-ECC honors. Coleen Cahill was selected ECC Player of the Year. Coach Sandy Hoody was named ECC Coach of the Year. DeVos, who scored in 25 straight games, led the conference in scoring. Profili was named the ECC Scholar Athlete of the Year for women’s lacrosse.

Another six-game win streak helped Towson erase a slow start in 1991. Outscoring their ECC opponents 53-22 the Tigers won the conference’s regular season title. Towson beat UMBC 8-5 in the semifinals and Delaware 11-6 for the championship. Kelly Bush, who led the ECC in scoring with 13 goals and 38 assists, was named ECC Player of the Year. She was joined on the All-ECC team by Courtney Page. Additionally Gina Daniel earned All-Region honors.

Towson claimed its third straight ECC title in 1992, clinching the championship with an 8-4 win over UMBC. The title helped put the Tigers into the ECAC Tournament where they upset top-seeded Lafayette before falling to Cornell to finish runners up. Jen Breakey paced the Tigers in scoring with 38 goals and 13 assists. Karen Walsh, Dodi Temple, Patti Sterner, Katrina Silva and Breakey all earned ECC honors.
