Continuing its commitment to student-athletes and building the Total Tiger, Towson University Athletics is partnering with INFLCR, multiple campus constituents and community partners to provide education and resources related to digital brand building, NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) disclosure, licensing, and more.
NIL Protocol - Towson Athletics
Press Release - 8/17/21
“We are in unprecedented times. When challenged with uncertainty, we are remaining focused on a “Student’s First” approach to further the mission of Towson Athletics. By focusing on the student-athlete, we see a tremendous opportunity to provide outstanding educational resources and programming to our 500 plus student-athletes from 19 teams.” – Terry Porter, Associate Athletic Director, Compliance Services
As part of the INFLCR partnership, all Towson student-athletes are provided access to real-time multimedia content from TU’s communications and digital media teams to share on their personal social media channels. Student-athletes will also receive personalized metrics that allows them to track the growth of their social media following and social media engagement.
Additionally, student-athletes will have access to INFLCR's Verified. This is a platform that will assist student-athletes in finding opportunities in the existing marketplace to monetize their name, image and likeness while automating the disclosure process to Towson Athletics Office of Compliance Services.
Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan signed HB0125 which is effective July 1, 2023. Until then, Towson University shall adhere to the following NIL Protocol.
