2012 Women's Lacrosse Team
The 2012 season continues to stand out as historic in the annals of the Towson University women's lacrosse program.
Under the direction of their second-year head coach, Sonia LaMonica, the 2012 Tigers set a single season program record for victories with a 16-4 record, a mark that has since been equaled twice but not bettered. The overall record included an unbeaten 7-0 finish in Colonial Athletic Association conference play, marking the only year to date that Towson has posted a perfect CAA regular season record. In addition to dominating the CAA, the nationally 8th-ranked Tigers enjoyed wins over three other eventual league champions - Loyola (Patriot), Oregon (MPSF) and Monmouth (MAAC).
Incorporated among the 16 wins was a record victory streak that remains intact of 10 straight wins. As a testament to the team's resilience, grit and determination, nine of the games were decided by a single goal. The Tigers won eight of those nail-biters, another program record for a season.
Finally, the 2012 squad was a perfect 8-0 in Johnny Unitas Stadium during the regular season, registering the only perfect home record in program history.
Four players – Alexa Demski, Mary Teeters, Andi Raymond and Kelly Custer earned First Team All-CAA honors. Demski, who is a 2026 inductee into the Hall of Fame, and Teeters, who led the CAA in Goals Against Average at 8.47 and save percentage (.502) were named third team IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Americans. They were joined by Raymond and Custer, who shared team goal scoring honors with 35 each, as IWLCA Regional All-American selections. Michelle Dufault was chosen to the CAA All-Rookie Team. Teeters also earned the CAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player award and was selected Towson's Senior Female Athlete of the Year. LaMonica was honored for a second consecutive time as the CAA Coach of the Year.
