Lindsay Kasten enters her second season as assistant coach for the Towson field hockey program.
In her first season with the Tigers, Kasten helped the Tigers excel defensively, leading the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and ranking third nationally for defensive saves with 16. Senior Stacey Mackintosh tied for third among all Division I players with eight defensive saves.
The Tigers also ranked second in the CAA and 22nd among all DI programs with a 0.743 save percentage.
Kasten, hired in the summer of 2015, joined the Tiger staff after serving as an assistant field hockey coach at Earlham College.
As part of her role at Earlham, she performed administrative duties, assisted with recruiting, daily practice plans and field set up. Kasten also helped with game plan, scouting of future opponents, team meals and statistics.
While at Earlham, she served as the faculty representative for the HCAC Unified Bowling Event and attended a NCAA Emerging Leader seminar.
Kasten has plenty of USA Field Hockey Futures experience, having worked with the program in both Ohio and Connecticut. She helped develop the skills of players ages 15-18, focusing on stick handling, receptions, hits and game play.
Prior to joining the staff at USA Field Hockey Futures, Kasten served as an assistant coach at Trumbell High School in Connecticut. She instructed players on fundamentals and new skills, created practice and conditioning skills, worked with players on offensive and defensive corners and helped goalkeepers develop skills.
Kasten also worked as an assistant coach for the HTC Club in Connecticut, instructing players ages 11-18 on tactical and technical skills, as well as shooting skills and developing hits.
A 2013 graduate of Sacred Heart University, Kasten earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in before receiving a master’s of arts in teaching elementary education in 2014.
As a four-year player at Sacred Heart, Kasten led the Pioneers in scoring during her last three seasons. She finished her career with 21 goals and four assists.
A native of Fair Haven, N.J., Kasten earned academic honors each year of her career from the field hockey coach’s association as well as the Northeast Conference. As a senior, she received the Coca-Cola Community All-American Award.
Kasten was a substitute teacher for Richmond Community Schools in Indiana, teaching grades K-12 during the 2014-15 school year. She worked at the Barnum School in Connecticut as a teaching intern in 2014 and a student teacher in 2013.
