Biography
2023-24: Named to All-CAA Third Team and CAA All-Defensive Team… finished his prolific Towson career with another strong season… played in every game, starting all but one averaging 9.6 ppg and a team-high 8.3 rpg, his highest average of his career… blocked 49 shots with a career-best 74 assists shooting 51 percent from the floor… had eight double-doubles during the season including a 17-point, 14-rebound game at UNCW in early March… finished his career as the program leader in games played (151), games started (116) and second in minutes (3,873), third in rebounds (1,006), third in field goal percentage (.553) and fourth in blocks (198)… is one of three players all-time to score over 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds.
2022-23: Named to the CAA All-Defensive Team and All-CAA Second Team… played and started in every game during his senior season, having his best statistical season as a Tiger… averaged 12.2 ppg and 8.0 rpg playing in 29.9 mpg… shot 57 percent from the floor and had 56 blocks with 55 assists and became the 30th player in Towson history to record 1,000 career points… had a stretch of nine straight 10-plus point games in the middle of the season and had back-to-back 20-point games against Northeastern and William & Mary on January 26 and 28… had six double doubles, including a season-best 17 rebound game against North Carolina A&T in February on senior day.
2021-22: All-CAA Second Team, NABC All-DIstrict 10 Team plus earned a spot on the CAA All-Defensive Team for the second year in a row, helping the Tigers win the CAA regular season title and earn a berth into the NIT... finished in the top-7 in the CAA in several categories: blocks per game (2.2, 2nd), rebounds per game (7th, 6.7) and field goal % (6th, 60.4%)... fifth in Towson single season history with 34 starts... averaged 10.8 points and 6.9 rebounds a game, including 13.7 points and 8.2 rebounds a contest in CAA play... have five double-doubles and 20 double figure scoring games... five games in a row with double figure scoring from Dec. 11-Jan. 9... had first double-double of the year with 12 points and 11 rebounds vs. UNCW (1/22), the first of 11 straight games in double figure scoring... shot 11-for-14 for career-high 23 points and 11 rebounds vs. Drexel (1/29), leading Thompson to be the CAA Player of the Week... earned 22 points, off 10-for-12 shootings, and career-high 17 rebounds in home victory vs. James Madison (2/23)... led all Towson players in scoring in NIT game at Wake Forest (3/16) with 15.
2020-21: Earned a place on the CAA All-Defensive Team, finishing second in the CAA, and 72nd in DI, with 1.6 blocks per game, plus eighth in the league with 6.4 rebounds per game... played in all 18 games with 11 starts... led the team in total rebounds, blocks and steals... shot 55% from the floor for 9.4 points a game... seven double digit scoring games, six double digit rebound games and three double-doubles on the season... finished Mohegan Sun Bubbleville with 17 points off 7-for-8 shooting vs. Buffalo (11/27)... first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in win vs. Coppin State (12/26)... three straight games with double digit rebounds, capped by a season-high 15, adding a career-best seven blocks, with six points vs. William & Mary (1/31)... shot 9-for-12 from the field for a career-high 20 points at Charleston (2/7)... double-double off 11 points and 11 boards in home victory over Northeastern... free year of eligibility due to COVID-19 pandemic.
2019-20: Averaged 3.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game … Played in all 32 games … Started Towson’s first five games … Grabbed a career best 17 rebounds against Bryn Athyn on Nov. 8 … The 17 rebounds was tied for the ninth-best single-game performance in Towson history … It was the second most rebounds by a Towson freshman in program history as Pat McKinley had 18 rebounds in a 101-89 against Wheeling College in February 1974 … Scored a career best nine points against Bryn Athyn and James Madison on Feb. 15 … Scored eight points to fuel a road win at Northeastern on March 1 and in a setback to Buffalo on Nov. 22 … Finished with at least five rebounds in nine games … Had nine rebounds against William & Mary on Feb. 20 and seven in a road win at Hofstra on Feb. 27 … Tied for second on the Tigers with 14 blocked shots … Had a career best three blocked shots against Bryn Athyn … Made 50 percent of his shots (45-of-90).
Prior To Towson: He helped Saint Stephens & Saint Agnes win the Interstate Athletic Conference tournament for the first time since 2007, making the Saints the outright champions in one of the area's toughest leagues … He was named VISAA First Team and Player of the Year and IAC Player of the Year … Thompson was an All-Met First Team along with fellow Towson signee Jason Gibson … Participated in the Capital Classic … During his senior season, Thompson has averaged 13.8 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 assists per game.
Personal: Son of Sydnee and Tony Thompson … Has four brothers and three sisters … Sport Management major … played football and ran track in high school … He lists his dad as the person he admires the most … father went 40-7 as a boxer and twice challenged Wladimir Klitschko for the heavyweight championship...Hobbies include playing video games and flipping houses … A fan of the Washington Wizards and Washington Commanders … Favorites include “Divergent” (book), “The Avengers” (movie), Taylor Swift (musician) and pancakes (meal).
