DMV native Alex Kolt joins the Towson football staff as the offensive line coach beginning in the 2023 season.
2024 saw Kolt's offensive line help two players averaged six yards per carry, anchored by All-CAA Second Team center Ralph Paige Jr., the second straight year Paige Jr. was recognized by the CAA. In addition, Florian Staehler was honored on the 2024 CSC Academic All-District® Team.
In 2023, Kolt's offensive line allowed just 15 sacks, the lowest amount by any CAA team that year. Ralph Paige Jr. earned Honorable Mention All-CAA as Towson's starting center.
Kolt comes to Towson after being a longtime coach at Georgetown from 2011-22. He was the assistant head coach and offensive line coach from 2017-22 after previously being the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator from 2013-16 and tight ends and assistant offensive line coach from 2011-12.
While with Georgetown, he coached 13 all-conference players, including two All-Patriot League offensive linemen in 2022 as the Hoyas led the Patriot League in fewest sacks allowed. His 2019 offensive line led the Patriot League in rushing and rushing touchdowns and had the fewest sacks allowed in the conference.
In 2014, defensive lineman Alex May was the nation's leader with 16.5 sacks, being a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award for most outstanding defensive player in FCS. The 2011 Georgetown team won eight games and ranked second in the Patriot League scoring offense.
Kolt began his coaching career at JR Tucker H.S. in Richmond, being the offensive line coach for the 2010 season.
Kolt was an offensive lineman at Hampden-Sydney College from 2006-09, graduating in 2010 with a degree in history. He earned his Master's Degree in education in sport leadership from VCU in 2011.
