Alex Stadler joined the Towson University football program as offensive line coach in 2021 and enters his second season with the program.
Stadler comes to Towson after serving in the same role at Lehigh University in 2020. Two Mountain Hawks, Chris Forunier and Justin Gurth, earned All-Patriot League honors.
In 2019, he was an offensive analyst at Wake Forest University, working on offensive scouting reports, personnel breakdown and analysis of opponents. The Demon Deacons went 8-5 that season, earning a berth in the Pinstripe Bowl with the top passing offense in the ACC at 297.8 yards per game, also ranking in the top-3 in total offense, scoring offense and third down conversions. Eight offensive players were named All-ACC that year, a team record.
From 2015-18, Stadler worked at Virginia State University, being in various roles in his time including associate head coach, run game coordinator, offensive line coach, tight ends coach and director of football operations. The Trojans won the 2017 CIAA title and earned a berth into the NCAA DII Playoffs with a perfect 10-0 regular season record. Virginia State led the CIAA in rushing from 2015-17, including Trent Cannon having a trio of 1,100+ yard rushing seasons, leading him to be the 2017 CIAA Offensive Player of the Year.
Before the 2014 season at Sul Ross State, Stadler was the offensive line coach at Bowling Green State University in 2013, helping the Falcons win the MAC for the first time in 21 years. Bowling Green won 10 games and earned a berth into the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. Three of Stadler’s offensive linemen, Dominic Flewellyn, Chief Kekuewa and Alex Huettel, earned All-MAC honors, blocking for an offense which scored nearly 35 points per game.
He was an offensive line graduate assistant in 2012 with the University of Richmond, which won a share of the CAA title with eight victories that year, plus had the same role at Liberty University in 2011.
As a player at Liberty, he was a two-time Big South All-Conference guard in his final two years, being a starter for three Big South champion teams. In 2010 as a team captain, he earned First Team VaSID Virginia DI College Football All-State Team as one of the top players in the state. While a player, he competed in the 2006 Independence Bowl and 2010 FCS Senior Scout Bowl.
Stadler earned two degrees from Liberty, including his undergraduate degree in communication studies in 2010 and his Master’s in sport management in 2013. He lives with his wife, Heather, in Towson.
