Almondo Curry joined the Towson football team as the cornerbacks coach for the 2021 season, entering his third year with the program in 2023.
In 2022, cornerback Robert Javier was first in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in pass break-ups and second in total passes defended to be named Phil Steele All-CAA Second Team.
Curry came to Towson after a year at Maryville College, previously being a defensive analyst at William & Mary for a season.
Curry was at Virginia State University for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, helping the Trojans to a pair of winning seasons and a combined 15-6 record.
He had his start in collegiate coach at Christopher Newport University, assisting a program to a trio of winning seasons and 22 combined victories from 2012-14.
He began his coaching career at Hampton High School, his alma mater, from 2008-10, then was the defensive coordinator of Heritage High School in 2011.
A standout at the University of Virginia, he was a senior team captain and an All-ACC cornerback. He led the league in interceptions in his senior season with the Cavaliers. Following his college career, he played three years in the Canadian Football League for the Montreal Alouettes and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, being the league's East Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2004.
Curry graduated from Virginia in 2004 with a degree in sociology. He lives with his wife, Lameka, and two daughters, Dayzja & Ava.
