Bauer enters his fourth season with Towson, currently serving as the team's run game coordinator, defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. He is responsible for all football recruiting operations of the team.
Working with the outside linebackers group in 2019, Keon Paye earned an All-CAA Third Team selection after being one of the first Tigers with five interceptions in a season since 2004, adding 43 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss. He and John Lambert earned over 33 tackles on the season, helping the defense allow just 23.5 points per game, ranking third in the CAA.
Bauer helped team captain Diondre Wallace earn Third Team All-CAA and rank in the top-10 all time in Towson history in tackles in 2018. He also coached Keon Paye, Ricky DeBerry and Malik Tyne, all in the top-5 in tackles for loss for Towson that season.
Before coming to Towson, Bauer spent the previous two seasons at Rutgers University, serving as the defensive quality control coach in 2017 after serving as the defensive line graduate assistant in 2016. During Bauer's time at Rutgers, he coached Kemoko Turay, the eventual 2018 second round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, as well as 2017 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten freshman Elorm Lumor.
Prior to his time with the Scarlet Knights, Bauer spent two years as a defensive line graduate assistant at the University of Maryland, assisting in coaching a defensive line that finished 13th nationally in sacks in 2015. He assisted in the development of 2015 All-Big Ten First Team, and eventual third round draft pick, Yannick Ngakoue, who set the Maryland single season sack record with 13.5. He also assisted in the development of 2015 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten, and fifth round draft pick, Quinton Jefferson, as well as 2014 Second Team All-Big Ten and Maryland career sack record-holder Andre Monroe.
During the 2013 season, Bauer served as the defensive backs graduate assistant at The Citadel.
Bauer began his career as a student assistant at Towson from 2010 until graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences. He earned his Master of Real Estate Development Certificate from the University of Maryland in 2016.
A native of Middletown, Md., Bauer and his wife, Julie, have two children, Eva and Jack.
