Dassin Blackwell

After coaching Towson's wide receivers for three seasons, Dassin Blackwell became the Tigers running backs coach in 2014. In his first season working with the running backs, Towson ranked fourth in the CAA in rushing offense by averaging 163.4 yards per game on the ground.

From 2011-13, Blackwell helped Towson compile a 29-10 record with two CAA championships, two NCAA FCS playoff appearances and a berth in the NCAA FCS championship game.

While working with the Tigers' wide receivers from 2011-13, he coached three players who earned All-CAA honors. In 2012, Tom Ryan was named third team All-CAA. In 2013, Spencer Wilkins and Leon Kinnard were both named to the All-CAA third team.

In addition, he has been responsible for all preparation and implementation of a weekly game plan. He has also assisted in the marketing and recruitment strategy to heighten the program's visibility. Blackwell served as the program's quality control assistant in 2010.

From 2007 to 2009, Blackwell spent three years as a member of Kevin Kelly’s staff at Georgetown University. While working for the Hoyas, he coached the running backs.

He joined Coach Joe Gardi’s staff at Hofstra University in 2005 as a defensive backs graduate assistant coach. In his one season at Hofstra, he helped the Pride post a 7-4 record.

In 2004, he served as the tight ends coach at Iona College for Coach Fred Mariani. He was also the Gaels’ academic coordinator.

In 2001, he started his college coaching career at Bryant University in Rhode Island. In three years at Bryant, he was the team’s strength coach. He worked with Bryant’s defensive backs and running backs as a member of Jim Micelli’s staff.

After graduating from Towson in 1998 with a degree in exercise science, he was named as an assistant coach at Bridgton Academy in Maine. Blackwell worked with the defensive backs. He also served as an admissions counselor at Bridgton.

Blackwell earned his first coaching opportunity at Assumption College where he spent one year coaching the wide receivers.

An experienced clinician, Coach Blackwell has worked at a number of camps the last few years. He has coached at Lauren's 1st and Goal Camp at Lafayette College the last three years and was a member of the staff at the Rutgers Three-Day Prospect Camp this past season.

He has also worked at the Towson Football Coaches Clinic and One-Day Skills Camp at Towson the last three years.

A native of New Rochelle, New York, Blackwell recently married his wife Stephanie.
