Jared Ambrose

Jared Ambrose is entering his tenth season as an assistant coach at Towson, and his seventh as the team’s offensive coordinator.

Ambrose joined his brother’s staff in 2009 as the tight ends coach before taking over as the quarterbacks coach prior to the 2011 season.

In his first full season as the offensive coordinator in 2013, Ambrose directed an offense that rushed for a school-record 3,830 yards and totaled 7,452 yards of total offense.  The offense also accounted for 74 touchdowns.

It marked the first time in school history that the offense rushed and passed for over 3,500 yards in the same season.

The offense helped carry the way as the Tigers set a program record with 13 wins and won their first three playoff games in school history.

During the run to the National Championship game, the Tigers offense averaged 483 yards of total offense and 35 points per game.

Quarterback Peter Athens became just the third quarterback to eclipse 3,000 yards in a season when he threw for 3,461 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Running back Terrance West was named the Walter Payton Award runner-up after rushing for a school-record 2,509 yards and 41 touchdowns.

Ambrose took over as the offensive coordinator for the second half of the 2012 season.  Over the final six games, the Tigers offense averaged over 500 yards of total offense in finishing the season as CAA co-champions.

In the final game of the regular season, the Tigers offense racked up 660 yards and scored 64 points in a victory over No. 7 New Hampshire.  The 64 points marked the second-most ever scored in a game, and the most against a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team.

Quarterback Grant Enders became the most efficient passer in school history, completing 66 percent of his passes.

Ambrose came to Towson after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant at Delaware, working with the offense.

In his first season, the Blue Hens averaged 36.2 points and 460.6 yards of offense.  The unit was led by All-America quarterback Joe Flacco, who helped UD reach the FCS National Championship game.

Ambrose began his move into the coaching profession by serving three years as a student assistant coach at Shepherd University.  He served as an offensive assistant working with the quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends.

After spending one season as a player, he made the move to coaching, helping the Rams compile a 29-5 record and three-straight West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships.

During his tenure at Shepherd, the Rams put together a 28-game regular season winning that included three-straight undefeated seasons in the WVIAC.

Ambrose graduated from Shepherd University in 2007 with a degree in recreation and leisure, with a concentration on athletic coaching, earning a Master's Degree in 2009 in higher education administration.

He and his wife, Ashley, have three children: Evie, Sawyer and Jace.
