Marcus Walker Headshot

Marcus Walker

he’s made a measurable impact on the Tigers’ secondary, developing back-to-back All-CAA performers and contributing to a growing tradition of elite defensive back play.

In 2023, Walker coached Robert Javier to All-CAA Second Team honors—Towson’s first cornerback recognized by the league since 2014. Javier ranked second in the CAA in interceptions and later signed with the NFL as an undrafted free agent. In 2024, Myles Brodie followed with an All-CAA Third Team selection, leading the team in interceptions and pass breakups.

Walker arrived at Towson after a successful 2022 season as cornerbacks coach at Louisiana Tech, where he helped engineer a major defensive turnaround in the secondary. That season, two of his cornerbacks—Myles Brooks and Willie Roberts—earned All-Conference USA honors. Walker was selected to participate in the NCAA/NFL Coaches Academy.

Prior to that, he served as defensive backs coach at Stephen F. Austin (2020–2021), where the Lumberjacks ranked among the FCS top 20 in scoring defense, total defense, and interceptions. His unit led the Western Athletic Conference in multiple categories, and cornerback Myles Brooks earned First Team All-WAC recognition.

Walker also served as cornerbacks coach at McNeese State (2019), where his group featured First Team All-Southland cornerback Darion Dunn, and as secondary coach at Henderson State (2018), where safety Malik Brown led the conference in interceptions and earned Second Team All-Great American Conference honors. His collegiate coaching career began at the University of Oklahoma (2015–2017) as a graduate assistant, contributing to three Big 12 titles and two College Football Playoff appearances.

As a player, Walker was a two-time All-Big 12 cornerback and team captain at Oklahoma, where he helped lead the Sooners to three Big 12 championships and three BCS bowl appearances. He went on to play professionally in the NFL (Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers) and CFL (Hamilton Tiger-Cats).

Walker holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and two master’s degrees—in Human Relations and Administrative Leadership—all from the University of Oklahoma.
