Matt Applebaum

Applebaum enters his third season as the offensive line coach at Towson in 2020.

Applebaum's line blocked for an offense that finished fourth in the CAA in scoring offense and quarterback Tom Flacco, who was second in the CAA in total offense.  Left guard Aaron Grzymkowski earned All-CAA Second Team recognition, the second year running on the all-conference team.  In addition, the line helped block for Flacco and running back Yeedee Thaenrat, each members of the all-conference team.

In 2018, his line helped Towson be ranked #1 in the CAA in scoring offense (34.5 points a game) and offensive yards per game (465.0).  Right tackle Matt Kauffman was selected as an All-American by the Walter Camp Association, while guard Zane Ventimiglia earned CoSIDA Academic All-America. Kauffman was All-CAA First Team while guard Aaron Grzymkowski was on the All-CAA Third Team.

He previously served two years as the offensive line coach at Davidson College. He was promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2017 season.
 
Prior to his time at Davidson, Applebaum spent one season as the offensive line coach at Southeastern Louisiana (2015) and one year as an offensive assistant with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2014).
 
Applebaum got his start in coaching in 2008 at Central Connecticut State where he worked with the tight ends and served as the team's video coordinator. 
 
He spent three years working with the Washington Redskins, starting as a pro personnel assistant, moved to college personnel assistant and finally to an offensive coaching assistant in 2010. He returned to college coaching following that season and spent two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Miami before spending a season as the offensive line coach at Bucknell.
 
Applebaum was a two-year starter on the offensive line at UConn before playing one season professionally with the Wiles-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in AF2.
 
He graduated from UConn in 2007 with a degree in political science.
