At Cranford High School: Led the Cougars to their best back-to-back seasons ever, going 8-3 in 2003 and 8-2 in 2004 to earn their first ever Watchung Conference championship ... during those two seasons, Steve never gave up a quarterback sack ... named first team All-Union County and All-Watchung, third team All-Group 2 ... went both ways along the line ... recorded 61 tackles in his final two seasons including 12 sacks, 24 stops for losses, five caused fumbles and three fumbles recovered ... selected to play in the 2005 North-South All-Star game ...  also received Super 100 All-State football honors ... member of Cranford’s Group 3 championship basketball team ... threw the shot put on the track squad.
