Doug Reaves, a 1990 graduate of Towson University and a former member of the Tiger football team, has been named as the general manager of Towson Sports Properties.
In that role, Reaves will head up the sales and sponsorship efforts for the Tiger athletics program.
A native of Baltimore who graduated from Northern High School, Reaves brings more than 20 years of advertising and marketing experience to Towson University.
He joined the Tigers after spending four years a senior account executive for WJZ-FM (105.7) and CBS Radio. During his time at WJZ-FM, he accumulated more than $1,000,000 in advertising sales revenue. He ranked among the top five on a staff of 35 account executives in sales.
Prior to his stint at WJZ-FM, Reaves spent two years as an account manager and suite specialist for the Baltimore Orioles. With the Orioles, he excelled in new business development while assuring client satisfaction for accounts of more than $2.45 million.
From 2005 to 2009, Reaves worked as a sales executive with three different radio stations within CBS Radios’ Baltimore properties. He was the local sales manager for WQSR Jack-FM from 2007 to 2009. He also spent one year as the national sales manager for the CBS Radio cluster. He also spent 16 months at Mix 106.5 Radio where he was a senior account executive.
An offensive lineman for the Tiger football team, Reaves was a member of Towson’s Lambert/Meadowlands Award-winning team in 1986. The 1986 Tigers posted an 8-3-1 record and earned a berth to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Reaves began his sales career in 1988 while he was still a student at Towson. From 1988 to 1990, he was an assistant to the promotions director at WWMX-Radio. From 1990 to 1995, Reaves was a senior account executive at Shamrock/Infinity Broadcasting.
He took a break from advertising in 1996 when he became a teacher in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. For the next nine years, he taught at Archbishop Curley High School and three others schools. While teaching at Curley, he also served as an assistant coach for the Friars’ football team and coached the track and field team as well.
The father of two daughters, Reaves resides in Westminster with his wife, Donna.
