Biography

The first quarterback in Towson football history, Al Dodds '71 was also the sport’s first inductee into the Athletic Hall of Fame (1985).

A two-year performer for the football team, he was named as the winner of the Doc Minnegan Award as Towson’s MVP in 1969. He was also the co-captain of the Tigers’ first winning team in 1970.

Dodds ranks high on the Tigers’ all-time total offense list with 3,000 yards. He also passed from 2,529 yards and 28 touchdowns in his two seasons as quarterback.

That same season he was also named as Towson’s Athlete of the Year as he won the NCAA Division II Decathlon championship. He earned All-Mason-Dixon Conference honors in track & field as a junior and senior and earned Towson’s Senior Athlete of the Year award in 1971. He captained the team as a senior.

He taught physical education in Howard County after graduation.
